Don Giovanni a cenar teco

( Ecce! )
Don Giovanni (the Mozart opera) Reinterpretation
It has taken me a lot longer than it should have to finally post these. I actually have quite a few issues with them, mostly that they seem kind of derivative and I don't feel like I did anything terribly original or exciting with the brief. I got heavily sidetracked from my original idea and the oil painting was just too time-consuming for me to finish them well. I'm posting only 5 out of 7: the final two panels are not really in any state to be shown, and I don't know when or if I will finish them.
The last bits of the story are about the Don Giovanni character getting vanquished by the spirit of revenge and facing a lifetime of exile.
Woah, that was pretty negative. I'm just bummed out about this project and couldn't reel it in I guess. Bad form!
...
Ok, it turns out I wasn't quite done whining, because I also built this wooden fold-out paneling for the paintings that I had to painstakingly cut, stain, varnish and attach hinges to that completely fell apart when I had to take it in to be assessed. Fml.
Carestini animation
Jan. 21st, 2011 10:19 pmI am procrastinating working on the intimidating mountain of things that need finishing for monday, so here's another update.
Continuing with the animation theme, I thought I'd post a slightly older one that I did in my foundations year. It's just a quick one set to "In mirar la mia sventura" preformed by the inestimable Phillipe Jaroussky.
(I was lucky enough to see him in concert once at the Southbank Centre, he was so amazing and adoreable! Towards the end of the concert he jokingly sang part of a song in a deeper register and it was hilarious that he just absolutely couldn't pull it off. Hearts in my eyes!)
Sorry about the video quality, at the time I made this I had no clue about all the technical shit. I recommend watching it in the 480 setting.
